Brief History of Namphing Secondary School
Government Secondary School, Namphing is a co-educational government institution located in Namchi District, South Sikkim. Geographically, it lies at 27°13.45' N latitude and 88°28.904' E longitude. The school was officially established in 1975 and has been a cornerstone of education in the region ever since.
The roots of the institution trace back to March 1974, when it was founded as a committee school on land graciously donated by the late Pandit Loknath Poudyal. In 1975, under the initiative of the then Assistant Education Officer Shri K. N. Bamula, the school received formal government recognition. The current campus was developed soon after, on land donated by the Bermiok Athing Rai Bahadur family.
Initially functioning as a Primary School, it was upgraded to Junior High School level in 2003, and subsequently to a full-fledged Secondary School in 2012. Today, Government Secondary School Namphing offers education from Kindergarten to Class X and is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
